Meet Oral Surgeon Dr. Kao

Dr. Kao is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Currently, he is a vice chair and clinical associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at UMKC School of Dentistry, Kansas City, MO. He has a strong interest in identifying patient quality of life and how to improve their quality of life through oral health.   He is a well-rounded surgeon with a comprehensive scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with specific experience and a keen interest in dental implant surgery since 2005.

Prior to arriving in Kansas City in 2018, Dr. Kao was an excellent professor at Augusta University in Georgia, where he was very popular among dental students and patients and provided compassionate teaching and care in the classroom and school clinics. Besides clinical practices, he is also an excellent lecturer where he was invited to lecture at the Midwestern dental conference, Georgia Dental Association (GDA), Hinman Dental Meeting, Wisconsin Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS) Meeting. Furthermore, he has been lecturing internationally on Dental Implantology. He is a member of MDA, American Dental Association (ADA), AAOMS, served as the Sectional Director for Governmental Affairs for Georgia Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (GSOMS), and was the AAOMS alternate delegate for GSOMS prior to coming to Kansas City. He has received numerous teaching awards at Augusta University and UMKC School of Dentistry, including the distinguished faculty award by the International College of Dentistry.
